How It All Started

It all started back in 1998.. haha.. I was 13.. Don was 14.. I didnt know Luthfi back then... I met Don in The Church Of  The Blessed Sacrament located somewhere in Queenstown. It was a Saturday Afternoon.. about 3.00pm i think.. I was sitting at a rain shelter.. (it was a bright sunny day though).. and i was playing "air guitar" to a song in my head... Don saw me playing "Air Guitar" and walked up to me and said "Hey... You wanna play guitar? I can teach you..."... After that moment... we kicked it off... we used to play rock and metal in the back of the church on a Black Ibanez Electric guitar that really sucked.. but at the time.. we would've done anything to play an electric guitar... no matter how sucky it was.. hehea..so we didnt care that it sucked.. we just played till the zinc roofing of the church's backyard started shaking... and the church's priest in charge(it's a catholic church) came out to the back and lectured us.. so when he askeed us what we were playing.. we just said .. "Oh.. This is just a new version of Amazing Grace!".....

The ****ing liars we were!hehe!

After a year or two... we met Luthfi.. and Syawla Evol was formed.. we used to jam at this studio in a place called Aljuined..We played pretty loud then... and luthfi was very much like me.. we just moved ard alot.. playing whatever instrument we felt like playing at the time.. lol.... crazy times! Luthfi brought a whole new energy to Syawla Evol... It was great!

I guess at that time.. all we cared about was jamming and having fun..

2003 - Don and I made a recording... the album.. by this time.. we were all much older... Luthfi had decided to play Rythm Guitar and stop moving ard all the time.. I'm still moving ard though.. :P ...

December 03 - Album release... The First time we heard our Song played in HMV Heeren... IN THE SHOPPING MALL...

Sometime after the album release.. I met Donovan at Singapore Polytechnic.. He was mesin ard with an accoustic guitar.. he seemed really good at it. so i asked him what else he played... he said "Bass.."

A coupl'a months later.. Don, Luthfi and Myself decided to play in a music festival here called De-Trash.. We needed a session bass player.. so i called up donovan.... We clicked on the spot. He had what we wanted.. and we were the kind of band that he wanted..  so in came Donovan into the realm of Syawla Evol...

We have two really good Session Drummers who play for us at most of our shows.. We thought it would be cool as playin with session guys allowed us all room to move around with different instruments... hehe... The Drummers, Bryan Gamboa (from Dead End... friends of ours).. and Mr.Simon(from Snyxtyx.. also friends of ours)..  are two people we all respect greatly.. these great timekeepers take time out from their own bands to help us out.. and we really appreciate it.. I guess the only reason why we didnt rope them in is cos there needs to be space for movement... and we really needed a bass player more than anything else.. there's no way i that i was gonna be playin bass for every gig... if i did that... then what abt drums.. then again.. if i played drums... what about bass?

I guess we sacrificed the part of the drummer for movement within the band..

lol.... oh well.. i just think its good fun.. haha
and i'll bet Simon and Bryan think so as well... :D

Well the year aint over yet... more times to come... i'll update this page... soon.... haha..
