The Duo

Well.. the Don and I decided to record the Album sometime early 2003. I thought it should be just Don and myself on the album cos i wanted to see how the two of us would sound as a duo.. also.. I wanted to know what i'd sound like if i played multiple instruments.. So Luthfi took a break.. But dont get us wrong.. Luthfi is still very much a big element in Syawla Evol.. Without him.. its kinda like "H2O" without the "H"... know what i mean? heha

We didnt know Donovan back then... So I played bass on the album... Most of our recording was recorded track by track... It's the onlyway for two guys to sound like a band i guess..

We started looking for a place to record and finally decided on a place called Insound Studios. It's this ProTools place thats really small.. we knew better places.. but being students, we didnt really have the smacks... so we had to settle for Insound Studios.. It was what we could afford.

After the mixdown was complete.. we both werent satisfied with the results... so we decided to take it to Lion Studios for Mastering under the hands and ears of John Herbert.. Owner and Engineer... I think the guy is the closest Singapore's got to a recording god.. heha.. Any Singaporean who knows the guy would most probably agree with me on this.. unless you're Simon Cowell or someone like that... then i dunno.. hahaha..

There.. I was inspired to record the first and the last track on the album.. So we recorded those two songs.. and had a really quick mixdown...(cos of our tight budget... lol.. Lion is expensive.. but it was worth our every penny.. haha). The mastering session cleared up alot of probs we encountered at Insound.. And thats how we managed to bring you what you hear today.. It's a very humble recording.. And all of us from Syawla Evol hope it will an inspiring experience.. :D
